Gillian Salter, MSTOM, L.Ac is a Licensed Acupuncturist, Certified Herbalist and Nutritionist. She graduated in May of 2018 from a 3,500 hour Master’s program of Traditional Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. She is still currently enrolled in a Doctorate degree program there with studies in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs and is expecting to finish her Doctoral studies in March of 2019.
Gillian’s love for nature and natural healing began during her childhood. At a young age she was introduced to Tai Chi, Qi Gong, breath work, essential oils, yoga and using plants as medicine. She was raised with the principle of “treating others the way you want to be treated yourself,” which she has carried over to her practice and her love and compassion towards her patients.
Having grown up on the east coast, Gillian was always intrigued by California and decided to move to the west coast to attend University of San Diego. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in Spanish. She then worked in the corporate world for a year and during this time, her stress levels hit the roof and her digestive issues spiraled downward. Concurrently, while looking for a way to relieve her stress and stomach pain naturally, she tried Acupuncture on a dare to face her fear of needles. Within 1 month of trying Acupuncture, she began to feel better and was now determined to learn about the mysterious world of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs. She then enrolled herself in Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and fell in love with Chinese Medicine and its wealth of knowledge spanning 2,500 years.
During Gillian’s studies, she interned at UCSD's Cancer Research Center, Rady’s Children’s Hospital and apprenticed with Adrian Bean for three years here at Pacific Center of Health. It was here that she realized her true passion and talent lay in helping better the lives of others. She was incredibly lucky to have Adrian as her mentor throughout this journey. She attended 15 Craniosacral, Neural and Visceral Manipulation workshops taught by Adrian, himself. She has started and will complete all of the Neural and Visceral Manipulation series of courses taught by the Barral Institute. In 2018, she completed a 2 month “Master class” with RJ Spina, working to become better in tune with her true, spiritual self so she can fully be present and deepen her connection with her patients.
In Gillian’s spare time, you can find her anywhere in nature or in the kitchen cooking for her friends and family. She loves to travel, hike, swim, dance, and challenge herself daily
