I have worked in the field of mind/body/spirit health and healing for ten years, as a psychotherapist (M.A. in Clinical Psychology,1998), as a therapeutic bodyworker and Qi Gong healing hands practitioner, and most recently as a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese medical herbalist (Master’s of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 2008).
Although I am a general practitioner and enjoy treating a wide variety of conditions, I specialize in women’s health (addressing gynecological irregularities and transition through menopause), sports medicine (treating injury and enhancing sports performance), and weight loss (by regulating digestive functions and metabolism).
I regularly make dietary and nutritional suggestions that are easy to implement in our fast-paced society. It is important to me to develop a therapeutic bond and trusting relationship with my patients, so that together we can work to heal any imbalance or illness.
I call myself an integrative health practitioner because I have been trained in multiple modalities and am comfortable using different perspectives to assess and treat health imbalances. I refer my patients to other practitioners, such as medical doctors, chiropractors, or other specialists when necessary to achieve optimum health outcomes.
Before I moved to San Diego in 2003, I worked for 3 years as a consultant to the United Nations, writing public health policy papers and managing leadership development projects on changing the paradigm of public health responses to HIV/AIDS prevention in Cambodia, Nepal, South Africa, and Ukraine. I am passionately committed to helping create opportunities for people to heal at physical, emotional and spiritual levels. Beyond treating individuals, I am committed to helping transform the public health care system, and to making preventive health care, good nutrition, and mind/body/spirit wellness the focus in this country, rather than the current disease-oriented model of health care.
